Draft for review · 9 September 2026
Who this policy covers
Acquire Recruitment (Acquire, we, us) provides permanent and fixed-term recruitment services in Australia. This policy covers candidates, prospective candidates, referees, employer contacts and website visitors.
We respect your privacy and handle personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles where they apply. Personal information is information or an opinion about an identified person, or a person who can reasonably be identified.
Contact us about privacy at contact@acquirerecruitment.com.au or (03) 7079 3652.
What we collect
We collect information relevant to the recruitment service you ask us to provide.
- Candidates: name, email, mobile number, location, CV, employment history, qualifications, skills, preferred work, current or recent job title, work rights and information you choose to tell us.
- Recruitment discussions: availability, notice period, salary expectations, interview notes and role-related assessments. Where relevant and agreed with you, we may collect reference feedback and verification results.
- Employers: contact name, company, work email, phone number, hiring requirements, role locations, timing, headcount and any role specification or notes supplied.
- Referees: name, contact details, relationship to a candidate and comments relevant to their suitability for a role.
- Website visitors: device and browser details, pages visited, referral sources, approximate location and interactions such as clicks, scrolling and form engagement.
We usually collect information directly through our forms, email, phone calls and recruitment conversations. We may also receive information through an application, an authorised referral, a referee or an employer involved in your recruitment process. We explain relevant third-party checks before arranging them.
Please tell referees before you share their details. Do not send tax file numbers, bank details, identity documents or unrelated medical information through our general website forms.
Health information, criminal records and some other information receive additional protection as sensitive information. We seek your consent before collecting sensitive information where it is reasonably necessary for a recruitment purpose, unless the law permits or requires collection without consent. We explain why it is needed.
You can make a general enquiry without identifying yourself, where practical. If you withhold information needed to assess an application or respond to a brief, we may be unable to provide that service.
How we use and share information
We use personal information to respond to enquiries, assess suitability for roles, arrange interviews, conduct agreed checks, manage placements and maintain candidate and client relationships. We may retain candidate details to discuss future roles; you can ask us to stop contacting you or remove your details.
We do not sell candidate CVs or personal details. We seek your agreement to the particular employer before sending your CV to that employer.
We share relevant information with people who help deliver the service: authorised staff, agreed prospective employers, referees or screening providers for agreed checks, and service providers that support our website, communications and records. Professional advisers or authorities may receive information where needed for legal advice, a dispute or a legal obligation.
Employers and other independent recipients handle information under their own privacy obligations. We may also use or disclose information with your consent or as otherwise permitted or required by law.
You can ask us to stop optional recruitment updates or marketing messages at any time. We may still contact you about an active enquiry, application or placement.
Forms, analytics and cookies
Netlify Forms
Netlify hosts our website and processes form submissions on our behalf. When you submit a candidate registration or hiring brief, Netlify receives and stores the fields you submit. Netlify also processes technical information needed to operate and protect the service, including spam checks. Authorised team members access submissions to respond to you.
See Netlify’s privacy policy for its own data practices.
DigitalOcean file storage
Files you attach to a form, such as your CV or role specification, go from your browser straight to private storage that DigitalOcean runs for us in Sydney, Australia. Netlify does not receive them. Your submission carries a private link to the file, which authorised team members use to open it. We keep files until you ask us to remove them, including a file uploaded from a form that was not sent.
See DigitalOcean’s privacy policy for its own data practices.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand website traffic and improve our pages. It processes information such as pages viewed, device and browser details, referral sources, approximate location and interaction events. It primarily uses first-party cookies and identifiers. Google Analytics 4 uses IP addresses during collection but does not log or store them.
Google processes this measurement data. Its use also depends on the service terms and account settings. Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Microsoft Clarity
We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the website and identify usability problems. Clarity provides behavioural metrics, heatmaps and session replays that reconstruct interactions such as clicks, scrolling and navigation. These records may include page content, device details and usage identifiers.
Clarity can use first-party and third-party cookies and similar technologies. Microsoft receives usage data and may use it for its own purposes, including improving its products and advertising, under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. Our purpose is website measurement and improvement; this does not mean all data stays with Acquire.
SEEK reviews
Our homepage shows client and candidate reviews from our SEEK Recruiter Profile. To display them, your browser loads files from SEEK’s servers, which receive technical information such as your IP address, browser details and the page you are viewing. See SEEK’s privacy statement for its own data practices.
JobAdder job listings
Our roles page lists current vacancies from JobAdder, our recruitment software. To display them, your browser loads files from JobAdder’s servers, which receive technical information such as your IP address, browser details and the page you are viewing. When you apply for a role, JobAdder collects your application for us. See JobAdder’s privacy policy for its own data practices.
Your choices
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings and use browser tracking protections. Some website functions or measurements may be affected. Blocking cookies alone may not prevent every form of measurement. Google also provides a Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. This add-on does not disable Clarity.
You can contact us by phone or email if you prefer not to use an online form. A privacy policy does not replace consent where consent is required.
Overseas processing and retention
Our technology providers may store or process personal information outside Australia, including in the United States. This can include website submissions, uploaded files and analytics data. Provider infrastructure and support arrangements may involve other countries. Contact us for information about the arrangements relevant to your records.
Where the Australian Privacy Principles apply to an overseas disclosure, we take the steps they require to protect your information. Overseas processing does not remove our applicable Australian privacy obligations.
We keep information for as long as we need it to fulfil the purpose of collection, provide permitted future recruitment services or meet legal and record-keeping obligations. Retention depends on the record, its use and any legal requirement. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to destroy it or remove identifying details.
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against misuse, loss and unauthorised access, alteration or disclosure. No online service can guarantee complete security. If a breach occurs, we assess it and notify affected people and regulators where the law requires.
Access, correction and removal
You can ask what personal information we hold about you, request access, correct inaccurate or outdated details, withdraw consent or ask us to remove your candidate record. Email contact@acquirerecruitment.com.au with your request. We may need to verify your identity before releasing or changing a record.
We respond within a reasonable period. If the law permits us to refuse access or correction, we explain our decision and how you can complain. If we disagree about a correction, you can ask us to attach a statement to the record.
We act on removal requests subject to any requirement or lawful need to retain particular records. We explain any information we must retain and why. Withdrawal of consent does not undo handling that has already occurred lawfully.
Privacy concerns and complaints
Contact contact@acquirerecruitment.com.au or call (03) 7079 3652. Explain what happened, the information involved and the outcome you seek. We review your concern, investigate the relevant handling and respond to you.
If you are not satisfied with our response, or have not received one within 30 days, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. The OAIC can explain if your complaint falls within its jurisdiction. See how to lodge a privacy complaint.
We update this policy when our practices or applicable requirements change. The date at the top identifies the latest version. You can request a copy by email.
